Province plans to reduce surgery wait times

The Alberta government has launched a new plan increase the number of surgeries performed in order to reduce surgery wait times for patients.

Alberta Health and Wellness Minister Gene Zwozdesky, and Alberta Health Services President and Chief Executive Officer Stephen Duckett are set to announce the details of the plan on Tuesday.

The new initiative comes one week after the provincial budget was released. The new budget included a 15% increase for health spending to $15 billion for the next fiscal year.
