Calgary man charged in fatal hit-and-run in N.E.

CALGARY - Traffic investigators announced charges this morning against a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision, wrapping up an investigation that more than three months.

Shaun Robert Elson, 32, also known as Shaun Robert Cook, was fatally injured Nov. 25, 2009, when a Kia Sedona minivan struck him as he walked through the parking lot of the Big Easy at 3064 32nd St. N.E.

The minivan fled the scene without stopping, but traffic investigators were able to trace it to a home in the southwest community of Palliser. Police arrested a man there and quetioned him. He was released at that time without being charged.

However, police said today the results of their investigation, along with advice from prosecutors, have led them to lay charges against the suspect.

Clinton Richard Bruce, 24, has been charged with leaving the scene of a collision causing death.
