He was voted in, but Shiraz Shariff will not be the PC candidate for Calgary-West.

Shariff’s nomination has been overturned.

The PC Party claims there were irregularities in the nomination process, but won't provide details or evidence to back its verdict.

Shariff claims he won the nomination fair and square two weeks ago, and adds he has no options to challenge the party ruling.

The focus now is on who Premier Redford will select as the new candidate.

She will have a short list of three names to pick from.

Ken Hughes, former Alberta Health Services chairman and finished 2nd in the original Calgary-West nomination race, says he will serve as a candidate if the Redford asks him.

The deadline to announce the new candidate has been postponed until March 16, 2012.
