Woman of Vision
Global's Woman of Vision celebrates the accomplishements of outstanding Calgary women -- women who have implemented their passion and whose personal dedication and actions inspire us all.
Written and produced by Linda Olsen, this popular feature has profiled dozens of women over the past several years. These stories serve as an inspiration to other women, especially young women about to make career choices.
Produced and aired by Global television, the series is a monthly feature on Global news. Global Television is proud to be partnered with YWCA of Calgary to present Woman of Vision.
The YWCA is Canada's largest national network of women's shelters and subsidized housing for homeless women, women in crisis and transition, and women escaping violence. Locally, the YWCA of Calgary is one of the oldest and most respected social agencies in the city, impacting thousands of lives yearly by supporting the needs of women and their families. We believe that when women's lives are healthy, the community is more likely to be healthy.
Through our continuum of services–child & family intervention, emergency shelter, crisis housing, skills training & childcare—we assist clients in developing self-management skills to make positive and healthy choices in their lives. YWCA's qualified staff works with each client to help them achieve stability in their lives through one-on-one counselling, goal-setting, education, special programs and referrals. We also recognize the importance of creating a comfortable and welcoming environment for residents, many of whom are fleeing domestic violence, mental and physical health issues, addictions, poverty or substandard housing.
YWCA of Calgary represents an innovative approach to helping and supporting women and their children by bringing together resources and services, under one roof, to assist them in coping more effectively with their unique challenges and needs. We are grounded in a holistic approach to services that address the Body, Mind & Spirit and are committed to creating a healthy community-one that is peaceful, just, equitable, inclusive and sustainable.
