CALGARY - RCMP have laid charges in connection with the death of a 15-year-old boy who overdosed on what was believed to be ecstasy last Friday.

On Wednesday, Police arrested and charged a 17-year-old male from Strathmore with drug trafficking.

Jonathan Herrmann took the drug with a friend at a skateboard park last Friday afternoon.

Herrmann purchased the pills from the accused shortly before he went into medical distress. He later died in hospital.

Herrmann’s 19-year-old friend was transported to a Calgary hospital in serious condition and is now recovering.

Toxicology results could take months to complete but RCMP are looking at the possibility the drug may have been tainted.

The investigation into Herrmann’s death continues.
