A Calgary family is furious over the way their daughter was treated at the Foothills Hospital when she arrived in the emergency room suffering from convulsions..

On Thursday, March 4th, Reayanne Kendall was taken to hospital by friends, after suffering a seizure while at work and consequently passing out.

Cyril Davies, Raeyanne’s father, arrived shortly afterwards

“She was having tremors on her right side, really shaking really bad, uncontrollably and she was stuttering like she was cold”.

A short time later, Reayanne began to have convulsions in the ER waiting room and was told she was having an anxiety attack. She was given a tranquilizer and nurses said it would still be several hours before she could see a doctor.

Furious, Cyril decided to take Reayanne out of the ER, and drove to Red Deer Hospital where his family lives. She was admitted immediately after doctors diagnosed her with having heart problems.

“One of the first things they say is she's having a stroke, she's having a mini stroke. That's what they diagnosed in Red Deer. The very same day, they took her in right away, put her on an IV right away, and realized that the symptoms were serious.”

Reayanne still remains at the Red Deer hospital. She is currently waiting for test results to see if she has a problem with one of her heart valves and will require surgery.

The family says it will be filing a formal complaint with Alberta Health Services.

AHS has yet to comment, since they are awaiting the formal complaint, but do say every patient concern is addressed and they will follow up with the family.
